Why turmeric comes with black pepper
Curcumin on its own is poorly absorbed. In a 1998 study, volunteers who took 2 g of curcumin alone had very low or undetectable levels in the blood. When 20 mg of piperine, from black pepper, was taken with it, absorption was about 2000% higher.

This study used much larger amounts than a Golden Aura capsule. Two capsules give 900 mg of turmeric extract and about 5 mg of piperine a day, so we do not claim the same increase. Golden Aura has not been through a clinical trial of its own.

Why this is a 90 day course
Ayurvedic herbs of this kind build up slowly. Here is an honest picture of the weeks ahead.
Weeks 1 to 2
Very little, and that is normal
Most people notice nothing obvious yet. Turmeric is a daily habit, not a painkiller.
Weeks 3 to 6
The first signs
Some people find everyday movement a little more comfortable.
Weeks 6 to 12
The window that matters
Most turmeric studies run for 8 to 12 weeks. This is the period to judge it by.
What it will not do
- It is not a painkiller and will not work like one.
- It will not replace physiotherapy, exercise or medical treatment.
- It is not a treatment for arthritis or any diagnosed condition, and it does not replace medical care.
Who should not take this
- Pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take without medical advice.
- Under 18.
- On blood thinners or antiplatelet medication, such as warfarin, clopidogrel or daily aspirin. Turmeric may add to their effect.
- On any regular prescription. Piperine can change how the body absorbs some medicines. Speak to your doctor.
- On diabetes medication. Curcumin may lower blood sugar.
- Gallstones or bile duct problems.
- Low iron or anaemia. Curcumin may reduce iron absorption.
- Scheduled for surgery. Stop two weeks before.

Why is black pepper in it?
Curcumin on its own is poorly absorbed. Piperine from black pepper helps the body absorb more of it. See the research section above for the study and the doses it used.
How long before I notice anything?
Not in the first fortnight. Most turmeric studies ran for 8 to 12 weeks, which is why we sell Golden Aura as a 90-day course.
Is it safe to take every day?
Turmeric and black pepper are everyday spices, but the extracts are concentrated. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, on blood thinners or any regular prescription, or have gallstones, check with your doctor first.
Is it vegetarian?
Yes. The capsule shell is HPMC (hypromellose), a plant-based cellulose, not gelatin. What is inside is herbal extract.
